We Do Care
Operation Iraqi Children

As our school year has just begun, you and your children can make a real difference by helping our men and women in uniform reach out to Iraqi school children as part of our 5th Annual Family Freedom Festival on Saturday September 6th.

Join The Goodwill Efforts of Gary Sinise
In March of 2004, actor Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump, Apollo 13) and author Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit: An American Legend) announced the launch of Operation Iraqi Children, a program that enable Americans to send School Supply Kits to IraqiGary Sinise & Author children.

Many American troops have taken it upon themselves to reconstruct schools and gather learning tools for the children of Iraq.  Their efforts have been met with immense gratitude from the local Iraqis and their children.

Operation Iraqi Children is a grassroots program that aims to provide concerned Americans with the means to reach out to the Iraqi people and help support our troops' attempts to assist them.

Your Opportunity To Help
The most efficient and effective way to help Iraqi children is to create School Supply Kits, which will be distributed to each student.  You and your children can drop them off at our September 6th Freedom Festival in Downtown Barrington.

Each Kit contains basic, badly-needed items that can make a world of difference to a child heading to school.  Assembling standardized Kits ensures that each child receives the same number of the most needed items, facilitates customs clearance, and relieves our volunteers and soldiers of the time-consuming and labor intensive process of sorting and allocating random donated items.  Kits are wildly popular among Iraqis, who often request them.

Assemble each Kit according to the following list of items.  Please enclose NO additional items and be sure that all items are new and unused.  Each Kit should contain:
• One pair of blunt-end scissorsschool supply kit OIC
• One 12-inch ruler with metric markings
• 12 new pencils with erasers
• One small pencil sharpener
• One large eraser
• One box of colored pencils (Crayons melt in the Iraqi summer heat!)
• One package of notebook paper
• One composition book
• Three folders with inside pockets
• One zippered pencil bag

Please pack only the listed supplies in a backpack or in a 2-gallon sized zipper seal plastic bag.

Thank You
