From the Family Readiness Group Leader – “A little background on us...A Company, 133d Signal Battalion is based in Crestwood, Illinois, but our troops come from all over the state. We have approximately 150 soldiers, with about half based in Crestwood and half based in Carbondale and Sparta in southern Illinois. Their mission is to be a communications unit, supporting voice and computer networks in the battlefield. They were deployed to Iraq until July 2006, for a total of at least 18 months away from home. Our soldiers are really from all walks of life and have left behind many different families. They reflect the great racial and ethnic diversity of America. They are mothers and fathers, teenagers and grandparents, single and married. Their civilian professions cover a wide range – human resources professional, fork lift operator, police officer, engineer – and we also have many young men and women who are attending college. But they share a common dedication to this country and to each other to do the best job they possibly can and to come home proud!” The Heart Of A Marine Foundation The Heart Of A Marine Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Roy and Georgette Frank after they lost their son LCpl Phil Frank in Iraq in 2004.
